About the Exam
John Monash Science School (JMSS) also offers Year 11 entry for students who want to complete their final year of VCE in a specialist science environment. The Year 11 entrance exam is administered by Edutest and shares Mathematics, Numerical Reasoning and Science Reasoning with the Year 10 exam, but replaces Science Analysis & Reporting with a Science Knowledge test and Science Interest & Communication with a Science Writing Skills paper. Expectations are higher given the advanced entry point. Students gain access to Monash University facilities, research mentorship, and an intensive VCE program.

How to Prepare for JMSS Year 11
Year 11 entry is more competitive with fewer places. Your exam performance needs to be exceptional.
Demonstrate VCE readiness: the exam expects Year 10-level maths and science knowledge as a baseline.
Prepare for an accelerated VCE timeline: you'll be jumping straight into Unit 3 & 4 subjects, so show you can handle advanced content.
