Terms and Conditions

These terms apply when you use bigbrain.au or learn.bigbrain.au, or buy anything from Big Brain Education, which is run by Didact Technologies Pty Ltd (“Big Brain”, “we”, “us”). Most of our students are under 18. A parent or guardian agrees to these terms for a student, and is responsible for any purchases made on their account.

What Big Brain provides

Big Brain is a learning platform for selective entry and scholarship exam preparation. It includes practice questions, practice exams, writing tasks, progress tracking, and live classes, workshops and mock exams run by tutoring providers that use the platform, such as JT Education.

Accounts

Keep your login details private and don't share an account between students. Students under 15 should use Big Brain with the consent of a parent or guardian, who can link to their account. Please keep your details up to date so class reminders and receipts reach you.

Subscriptions and payments

Prices are shown before you pay, in AUD and including GST. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. If we change the price of your subscription, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then.

Tutoring plans

Big Brain sells and bills group tutoring. Classes are delivered by tutoring providers that work with us, such as JT Education Pty Ltd. Tutoring is billed every 4 weeks or every 12 weeks. The full rules are in the tutoring terms you agree to at checkout. In short:

• You can cancel at any time by emailing team@bigbrain.au.
• Classes already had, and any class starting within 24 hours of your email, are not refunded. A missed class counts as one the student attended.
• Every later class you have paid for is refunded.
• To stop your next payment, cancel at least 48 hours before your billing date. If that payment has already been taken, its unused classes are refunded under the same rule.
• The 12-weekly plan works the same way, at the 12-weekly price per class.

Workshops and mock exams have their own event terms.

Self Study subscriptions

You can cancel a Self Study subscription at any time by emailing team@bigbrain.au. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for and won't be charged again. Payments already made are not refunded, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires it. If you bought Self Study before 13 October 2026, you can still ask for a full refund within 7 days of that purchase, as our earlier terms promised.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that they will be provided with due care and skill and be fit for their purpose. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

AI marking and feedback

Big Brain uses AI to mark writing tasks, give feedback and power study assistants. AI marks and practice results are a guide to help students improve. They are not a prediction or guarantee of any exam result or school offer. You can ask for a tutor to review an AI mark by emailing us.

Classes, recordings and the student community

Classes may be recorded so enrolled students can rewatch them. Recordings are shared with the students in that class, parents who have paid for the class and asked for access, and tutors and staff. Class links and recordings are for your family only; please don't share or re-record them. Students are expected to be respectful in classes and in our optional Discord community. We may remove anyone who disrupts others or behaves unsafely, and will tell the parent if we do.

Our content

Questions, exams, lessons and other content on Big Brain are for the account holder's own study. You may not copy, resell or share them, or use them to build another product, without our written permission. Writing students submit remains theirs; they give us permission to store, mark and give feedback on it.

Acceptable use

Don't try to access other accounts or our systems without permission, disrupt the platform, scrape content, or use Big Brain for anything other than learning. If an account breaks these terms, we may suspend or close it after telling you why. If we close an account through no fault of yours, we will refund any unused period you have paid for.

Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Big Brain changes. We will email account holders at least 30 days before a significant change takes effect. If you don't agree with it, you can cancel before it applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
