MacRob Practice Tests for the Mac.Robertson Edutest Exam
Year 10 Edutest practice for The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School. A free diagnostic and the same five papers as the other Victorian selectives.

Practice tests for the Mac.Rob (The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School) Year 10 entrance exam: what each Edutest paper asks, how long you get, and a free diagnostic to find out where you stand. There is no separate Mac.Rob paper. How the papers are built, where to sit a free diagnostic, and how to use the question bank are on this page. Format, topic lists and the application steps live on the Victorian selective exam guide. The campus is on the Mac.Rob school page.
Big Brain does not host an official Edutest PDF. Official registration and any sample information Edutest publishes lives on Edutest. Timed practice (Edutest-style questions in the question bank, not a downloadable booklet) lives on the platform.
Sit a free diagnostic in the Year 10 Edutest format, then drill the five papers under real timing. Start practice at learn.bigbrain.au/join.
What is specific to Mac.Rob
The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School is the girls' selective school in Melbourne, established in 1934. Searches spell the name several ways, but every spelling leads to one exam. Year 10 entry (current Year 9 students) is the same Edutest five-paper sitting as Melbourne High, Nossal and Suzanne Cory, so a single-sex school does not need a different practice format.
Most students enter at Year 9 through the ACER Selective Entry exam, and Year 10 fills a limited number of extra places. Current Year 10 students can also sit for Year 11 entry, on the same five Edutest papers. Some schools add an interview or a written application after the exam, depending on the school. Dates and fees stay on Edutest and the school. We do not republish them here.
What the practice tests cover
The Year 10 selective exam is five Edutest tests (ACER runs the Year 9 exam). The table matches Big Brain's VIC Selective Year 10 exam record. Topic lists for each paper are on the exam guide. Shared Edutest patterns (how a percentile works, writing timing) are on the Edutest exam guide.
| Paper | Questions | Time | What to drill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 60 | 30 min | Speed on year-level maths. About 30 seconds a question. |
| Numerical Reasoning | 50 | 30 min | Patterns, sequences, and worded number problems. |
| Verbal Reasoning | 60 | 30 min | Vocabulary, analogies, classification, and deduction. |
| Reading Comprehension | 50 | 30 min | Passages plus sentence correction. Answer from what the text says. |
| Written Expression | 2 written | 15 min each | No planning or reading time. The paper sets the genre. |
Free diagnostic, then the question bank
Start with a diagnostic, not a full mock. A 30 to 45 minute diagnostic on the free diagnostic page maps which of the five papers is costing marks. The sitting mixes speed (Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning) with slower reading and two written pieces. A student who practises their strongest paper first stays busy without improving.
After the diagnostic, timed section practice in the question bank is the method. Mathematics is 60 questions in 30 minutes. Verbal Reasoning is the same pressure with words instead of curriculum. Reading Comprehension is 50 questions in 30 minutes, including sentence correction, so a student who skims the passage and ignores the grammar items drops marks. Written Expression is two pieces of 15 minutes each, with no planning or reading time, and the paper sets the genre. Practise both creative and persuasive on a 15-minute clock so either set style is familiar.

How to run a practice week
- One timed mathematics or numerical-reasoning set, then review every miss. Without an error log, students repeat the same mistakes at speed.
- One verbal-reasoning or reading set, timed. Untimed runs hide the pressure of 60 verbal questions in 30 minutes.
- Two written pieces, one creative and one persuasive. Stop each at 15 minutes, planning included.
- A full five-paper mock only once the section times feel ordinary. Starting with full mocks burns stamina before the question types are familiar.
Month-by-month runway stays on the exam guide and the Edutest exam guide. This page is the drills.
Where this sits next to the other pages
- This page: practice tests, the free diagnostic, and the question bank for this school's Year 10 Edutest sitting.
- Victorian selective exam guide: format, topic lists, and how to apply for 2028 entry. One exam guide for all four schools.
- Mac.Rob school page: the school itself.
- The same papers, named for the other three schools: Melbourne High Practice Tests, Nossal Practice Tests, Suzanne Cory Practice Tests.
- JMSS is a different Edutest sitting with science papers, so its drills do not transfer here.
