About the Exam
John Monash Science School (JMSS) accepts Year 10 students through a competitive Edutest entrance exam. Year 10 entry allows students to complete the full two-year VCE program at JMSS, benefiting from the school's partnership with Monash University, access to research labs, and specialist science teachers. The exam is five 30-minute tests: Mathematics, Numerical Reasoning, Science Reasoning, and two written science tasks (Science Interest & Communication and Science Analysis & Reporting). There is no reading comprehension or general writing test.

How to Prepare for JMSS Year 10
JMSS values scientific thinking. Practise interpreting data, graphs, and experimental scenarios, not just textbook science facts.
The two written science tasks are half the science marks. Practise structuring evidence-based explanations, not creative writing.
